I admit it.
I have an addictive personality.
I get addicted to things (my jade pendant), tastes (teh tarik from the nice uncle next to Courts), smells (duh), and states of being (content/lazy).
As such, I decided to have a procedure to deal with my addictions when they go too far beyond endearing eccentricities (this is what Ben is for.)
So.
Wikied the 12 step program. The article listed the following stages:
- admitting that one cannot control one's addiction or compulsion;
- recognizing a greater power that can give strength;
- examining past errors with the help of a sponsor (experienced member);
- making amends for these errors;
- learning to live a new life with a new code of behavior;
- helping others that suffer from the same addictions or compulsions.
I admit to everything. Even crimes that would only be committed if I end up mentally unstable due to, like a miscarriage, and then a hideous crime (one in four prob. that it'll happen to me) is committed on me. And I manage to make myself a force to be reckoned with before all that.
And the greater power is not God but the Fates. I have a weird relationship with destiny - argue with it, and threaten it with my disbelief (HAR-HAR) and knock on wood (or paper) like clockwork. Bet I'm a small joke to them. And there's yoga, now, to teach me how to make myself one with the world which is a gazillion times more powerful than me, and that just keeps giving. Check.
Now, I don't usually have sponsors or mentors. The role models in my life are kind of like Guru. Most will be a beacon of inspiration, but they won't actively teach me anything and they sure as hell hate explaining themselves. But if I go anal on what I know of them with a fine tooth comb, in the end, the knot with be caught, I will be somewhat enlightened and I will desnaggle it into reverent neatness.
I'm a compulsive helper too. Busybodying is a runs in my blood. That's why we have so many lawyers in the family (It's talking too much, loudandfast? A Bagoo. Stuff a laddoo in its mouth - if it's a girl, replace with a tomato).
Point was: I have little problem only with making amends. The people just won't talk to me. Or acknowledge my existence and error and apologetic acts!! I'm stuck, thus. Still. And forever.
Gah.
Goodnight.

I cannot take this anymore.
SMU has sent me back into depression and the realm of suicide.
I worked so hard to get away form this edge..
Fuck off SMU.

Dear Diary,
I think I'd fight harder for animal rights if I had animal rights too, honestly. The following are (my) rights that are infringed everyday on this sunny island:
Adequate rest! or time away from "work" work. 8 hours is not supposed to be a luxury. How come they have "eat two fruits and two veg a day" and "keep fit" campaigns but not "get enough sleep" campaigns?? I think the last is more important, seriously. I get moody and suicidal when I run low on sleep for a prolonged period. Or sociopathical. (I want knives!!!!)
Respect for my personal space! No wonder we get such bad service - the longer I spend on the morning commute on the mrt, the lighter my trigger gets. People shoving into me, squishing their way in so they can have enough space, but forcing me to imitate the grand green old ladies whose bent backs and branches have a stability I cannot seem to achieve. I'll go berserk one day, I swear. And the service sector needs to smile and serve other pissed off people whose patience was pushed to the limit on public transport too. Maybe even the person who'd pushed them. No wonder, really.
Affordable greens. It is still cheaper to get a doublecheeseburger than a small bowl of boiled veggies. (which is what my yong tau fu is now reduced to.)
Shelters at traffic lights. We get so much rain, I don't know why the gah men don't go waste some of their ridiculously large surplus on small plastic shelters (rectangles about the size of the shiny metal tables at amk library) so people don't have to run from the safety if the nearest block, across the road. Given the bad habits of Singaporean drivers, who will do their best to squeeze in between pedestrians crossing when the GREEN MAN is ON to get to the all important appointments they so clearly have, pedestrians bursting out from the nearest shelter to sprint across the road are probably accidents just waiting to happen.
Eve.
PS I hung up on you because I'm not going to waste time talking to you when my time is limited and you clearly are just filling time until your more important appointment.
I am, after all, a being lost to decency and honor.

Dear Diary,
Don't think it's possible to have yet more apathy for anything. Always felt it was one of those boolean thingies - either you are apathetic or you aren't? But I could be wrong again.
There are a lot of people I talk to. There are very, very few I can really talk with. Unfortunately, I just can't pick these people. And they have this tendency to all need much space. Then again, so do I.
The problem is, I can't really control what they do. I don't even know half the time. And I'm seriously disempowered - I don't want to.
I just don't like being made to bleat (bad play!) for them.
I don't backstab. If I grumble, I would do it to your face. Show it and see.
But I'm going to get some sleep.
Falling down escalators 3 times in one afternoon hurts.
Ouch.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm the kind of girl that was made for love.
It's silly. The beliefs I hold on love are pretty well developed, and everyone is made for love. You don't need any special characteristics - you're just lovable. Even if you're difficult or not very nice to some people, there's always another person you are kind to.
The only people for whom love does not work are the people who REALLY don't want love.
I'm reading Steppenwolf now. In it, he says a truth : even if there were people who wanted to love him, he drove them away. Until all he had was people who liked him, maybe sympathised with him, but did not love him.
I want to be loved. But not by my family, they will have to be left behind. I cannot be myself with them - I am too different. And I don't change easily. In some ways, I cannot change at all barring divine (LOL) intervention.
Does rejecting their love mean I am rejecting all love? Not to me. I don't reject their love. They don't know me, and have never known me. They cannot love me, if they never knew me - you have to love someone knowing all of them that you can know, ya?
Oh well. Rushing two summaries and a proposal. Even though I started both a week ago they are still somehow not finished. :'(
I hate smu. It's a very large smudge on the window of my life.

Hello, 2008!
My New Year's resolutions:1) Stop being so careless about the typos! It's been getting pretty embarrassing, but I've been too lazy to read over my posts after typing 'em out. No more!2) Use the school gym, especially since capoeira fees are getting too high for me to train more than the minimum. 3) Listen, if I'm not sure what to say, shut up. (Thanks, Guru.)4) Stick to the theory of happiness I heard on Oprah - you make yourself happy. You pick your frame of mind. So true - so I'm going to try and stop bashing love and men - yes, I've noticed the trend when I get tired and cranky - in a couple of years I may be a bra burning feminist! LOL. Me happy. Yay! Sun looks gold today, and my Apollo loves me for loving him despite the wrinkles and skin cancer he brings. :p That's it! Keeping it simple this gorgeous 2008. Yours,Eve.Labels: article, goals, love, opinion, random stuff

I love my friends. That's probably a bad idea, but hey. They're soulkin. (Note that I have many different definitions of "friend" - the guy I met on wed is a friend but I don't consider him soulkin )
Soulkin. Family of the soul. Like blood families, they can be huge and noisy or small, or medium sized, orphaned or multiparented or whatever.
Hurts when a twin soul goes off alone, but hey. Ka, ya? If he or she is truly twin, he or she will come back. :p Dhan! Cannot wait for sleepover and much gossip. No makeup allowed? Please?
End babble.

SO.
I still haven't started working out.
Even though today's been sunny - I'm afraid I'll jinx it and it'll start raining. But I'm still aiming for a 3kg loss by the end of the hols - only missed a week. Still got plenty more. And I'm training 4 times a weeks this week too, so not totally slacking.
I don't know why, though, I've been hungry all day, nonstop, for the last two days. No matter what or how much I eat. Meat or veggies or fruit - I just keep eating. But I can feel the hard muscle in my body, *drool* beneath my fat. So I just wanna lose some of the fat so everyone else will drool too *likemay!!* but... I still got a month.
Sadly, self esteem is ding donging. I hate not having information and not being able to get it. I can't decide well on less than good information and right now I just need to talk to one bloody person with one huge dose of veritaserum and find out what's going on.
Btw I really am a packrat - there are ten pairs of jeans in my closet, (time to clean it out?) all hand-me-downs from my cousins that I will no longer wear - that crack about me being homely and looking like an 18th century house wife stung. Even though it's been nearly two years.
So I'm probably chopping my hair in jan again. I can't pull off sophisticated. But I'm gonna try this month - it might be nice to look untouchable because I'm too good rather than untouchable because I look kiddy (explains why the old dudes look at me tho').
Hmm I love capoeira. I never get so angry I want to kill anymore. I never give up because I think I can't do it - I try. Maybe not as hard as I could but I think it's an improvement over one year ago. I'll work on improving. Like that muscle book I bought. May not implement it now. But I will read it, and when I decide to implement the program I won't quit. It's a two year thing, to REALLY build up your body. All I wanted was to get stronger, so it's like a college level module when I wanted to learn my letters or sth.
But eventually I'm going to need a body like that to do the moves - see Boon, Silvio, Mestre... So eventually it will be implemented. Didn't waste daddy's money. :p
I'm still sort of mad at a particular person, but mostly because I thought better of them. But then, I tend to think most men are men. Not cowards or babies in the bodies of men. Not twisted psychos hiding under a kindly face. So's my fault I guess.
Sigh I wish I could cut out my libido or heart or whatever it is that causes me to care about a potential mate. Quite funny - if I stop believing he exists, but it is predetermined, then he will be as empty as me. But I really don't think such men exist. I think most men would cheat if they could get away with it. Or just give her as bad a deal as possible. Not all! Just most.
But I can't really believe that. As in, it's a thought that recurs, but when I deal with guys I don't see ASSHOLE tattooed on their faces. They're more than their thingies.
Just need to be fair? I'd hate to be treated like a womb or a pair of breasts?
Ah whatever.
Eve.

I personally never found it useful to just ignore something that made me uncomfortable, or delete all traces of it from my life. It often ended up just biting me somewhere painful because I wasn't aware of what was happening with it.
I guess I think I can't make a good decision without knowing all relevant information (and my definition of what's relevant is very wide). The exception being tech stuff - I never found it interesting enough to stay awake through one of the manuals. :s
But not everyone sees things the same way I do, obviously. Some people find it easier to block out everything to do with that event. I don't know if blindly repressing is a good idea, but I certainly don't believe anyone should live in the past. I guess I'm saying that I go over the problem, see it from all the angles I can, see what I can learn from it, then move on. Since I'm moving on, I don't need to avoid the source of the ex-problem.
But then, it only works for me for sure. No one else I know has tried that.
On another note, I'm going to Malacca end dec, with my friends. It certainly won't be what I dreamed of a few short months ago. but it will definitely be fun. And who knows, it may be better this way.
Toodles,
Eve

I'm going emo and living on Lifehouse. :p beware kohl and obscured faces. Gonna get contacts for training soon though. I really can't see, and I'm going to hurt someone *touch wood* if I don't take care.
I've become addicted. To carolina soares, or alternatively, Lifehouse. Chris Daughtry. The song that Marie attached to her blog. (I have no idea who sang it.)
I'm cynical and fatalistic, andt eating too much again. Thank god for Hitman inspiring me - that is the hottest Olyphant I've seen. And so...flexible! The stunts. And the swordfight. *drool*
I love a man who can wield a pointy thing without stabbing himself and crying to mommy.
Eve.
Lifehouse songs I love, but have to listen to on youtube:
You and Me
Whatever It Takes
...actually, just bring whatever you have when we meet up. I'll hog your mp3 player shamelessly.
I love you. :)

Watched Hitman today.
Was kinda funny going to amkhub, alone. The corridor out was a small sad memory. I wish I had the selective amnesia a few people I know have. Well, my gramma had selective hearing and memory too. Maybe I'll develop it soon too.
Hitman was a pretty good show overall! The dialogue was...stilted and cliched. The emotional bits all were, in fact. But the shooting, the combat, the SWORD BATTLE! OMG.
I'd buy the dvd just for that.
The babe, Olga sth, she was pretty hot. But cliched too. 'Specially the naughty bits. Pretty much every stereotypical geekboy's wet dream. Probably the point, though.
The lesson I learn from all these movies is: I gotta become a warrior. Precious few are protected by the big strong heroes, and usually the lady's genetically blessed. Which I am not. And since being caught in crossfire or the aftermath of rapine and looting is so not my thing...
I must become a hero.
And I'll protect babies. Nyeh. No pretty boys, they'll just play with too many girls to keep my insatiable possessive addict nature appeased. Just the happy baby smiles and gurgling. Yes.
Toodles :)

“Let’s just say, for the sake of argument, that there are people on other planets and that all of a sudden you’re dropped there, with no idea how these people live their lives, how their society works,” he blurted. “I’m this alien. I’m the man pretending he knows what the hell is going on around him when, in fact, he’s clueless.”
Mr. Deskovic:
A grave injustice was done to you. No one should be punished for something they did not do. But you are alive, sir. In my country, if you were to be convicted of murder, you would never be free again. We have the death penalty, you see.
I am not trying to belittle your suffering. I am not saying that you aren't in a very new, very different environment. It may be difficult to adjust.
But the fact is, sir, that no one knows what th hell is going on. That might just help you out. Fake it. Everyone else is. Just as long as you admit to yourself that you're not 100% sure, because lying to yourself is not a good idea - put up a good front and just do your best. That's what everyone does.

*Yes, it's exam period, yes, I'm running on way too little sleep, yes, I'm trying not to revise. Since I am continually surprised by the fact that people actually READ this :p The note here is to say this is probably crap and you may skip it entirely. :)*
I'm a bit slow. There are just a few lessons I hate learning. But I have to, or I'm just going to be silly again. I want to be a woman, not a girl.
The one I keep being taught, and hate most - don't trust men. Not that all men will lie to you and use you or break your heart. They just don't speak the same language. They can say exactly the same words and mean something so different... Don't trust them. Not that you don't talk to them or anything but I think I will have to keep something back. Wholehearted trust is just too stupid a concept anyway. The only ones who can get away with it are the children and the helpless, and I'm neither. And even they get betrayed too often.
Looks matter - I'll never be naturally beautiful. But while I know I should not trust men so much, I also like them. They feel nice, smell good, and are interesting to talk to simply because they are so different. And they go for the pretty ones like the obedient little bees they are. So yes, I reaffirm the pretty like a flower strat - smell sweet, feel soft, look bright. But I also need some spice. I'm not going to be just sweet forever. Haha from teh tarik to masala tea I guess. I've got to burn off all the excess fat, so I can wear tight stuff. Can't make the boobs grow, but I can grow my hair (don't know if that's feasible or not yet but I don't feel like chopping it short again yet). I think I need to go veg two days a week. That really helps, because meat I don't need so much - I just like its taste - not a good enough reason to eat it. Plus I can't cook it, raw meat...grosses me out. I'm going to be eating a lot more veg in the future....so why not start practising now? Haha I'm never going to be pretty but I can be a nicer alternative than I am right now. All the rejects that bounce over to me will be thankful for this. Even for the duration of the half hour conversation.
Yeah I'm a bit cynical. I'm plump, my hair never goes where I want it to go, I wear glasses and I haven't slept properly for a while so my skin ain't glowing much. (Got too used to arms around me.) To move myself out of this buddy-littlesis-reject status of mine, I'm going to have to lose the weight (tough for a comfort eater). Only the little bulge that hides my budding six pack, and my cheeks (once they drank some, I kept getting pinched! And my head rubbed. I don't mind head rubs but no more cheek pinching, they're going to disappear. By the end of next year. I'm gonna be 21, I'm tired of it!) are really the problem - the rest have their fans :p well, my butt, anyway. Some guys do like big butts. And I'm going to start sleeping again - I may keep falling off that horse but I like horsies so I'm getting right back on. And Ligeirinho is right, I need contacts, since I can't afford Lasik. I can't SEE. I nearly hit him I dunno how many times.
If I get hot *LOL* a lot of things will change. I remember when I used to think I could sing (someone has since showed me I can't, but people are trying to tell me otherwise again) - I'd just belt it out and be happy. Now I'll only sing coro, and only because I'd get in trouble if I didn't. I hear myself, when no one else can hear me, and it's ok. If anyone else is there, I cannot.
Same with dancing. I've got 6 left feet, not two. But I used to think I could dance okay. Then I met Luke and Piaba and since then I won't. It just looks stupid, gives people something to laugh at (objectively, I know that just because they're really good doesn't nec make my ability null but truth is I never realised I was so horrible until...haha.) Watching everyone dance was fun. I'm not going to dance unless the floor is so crowded no one can see me (never at birthday parties - the floor is never that crowded) but it's no loss. But IF I stop jiggling in funny places, maybe I won't look so bad. So that might change if I lost weight. :p
Yeah and my plan for the hair is to grow it and use whatever thingy people tell me to I guess. And I'll braid it. At least til Jan. That way I don't have to decide what to do with it for a couple more months. I actually want to chop it boy short, because I kept it shoulder length because of what a guy said. And I kept short cuz of what a guy said. Both guys are idiots, so I may have to start listening to what girls say but...most girls will not be totally honest. As in, they don't even think about it, it's an automatic, babe, it looks cool, it *the crazy mad scientist windblown look* suits you! Haha I guess I'm just not the nice looking type, though I look nice enough to be asked endlessly for directions *LOL* and change. Maybe I should stop giving random people bus money. But my dad gives me the money so I guess it's him giving random people bus money. He's a good man, is my da.
Anyway, if I'm not hot my next batizado - my name means sweet. No one is going to scold me for liking sweets. Not even mestre. :) Hey! This worked, I'm happy again. Bitching is fun. Yes. I'm hiiiiiigh. Always.
OK! Third and last lesson then I need to go for class.
There are no knights. I know that's an archaic term, but even now the concept exists. The boy will protect you, defend your honour, keep you safe, love you. *Cough cough* Noooooo...see, this doesn't happen. A pretty girl needs more than one boy to play knight, because there will be more than one evil villain male person looking to do stuff to her. If it's approx 50-50 world wide, the pretty girls take up a larger portion of men than is their fair share. Girls like me are secondary. If a guy happens to be free atm and feels like some gratitude he might try and help me out. But... I can't count on them.
I keep trying to get stronger. I really am not, though. Pathetic, but I was terrified when I realised that hard as I was punching him (it got serious about 5 minutes after the teasing started -_-" I need to get a grip) it didn't hurt at all. And I was stronger then. Lost some muscle lately. I guess I need something horrible to really happen to me before I can get into it...right now it seems a little paranoid to all out train for power. There's this idea that because I'm not pretty and I don't know how to flirt (it's another joke to see me try. And it just annoyed the guy. Great.) I won't be a target, which is stupid. If they were going to do it in a dark deserted place then they wouldn't have to see anything anyway. Grab, Rip, Stick it in, Repeat/Not. Run.
And this isn't a book, there are no heroes for a girl like me. I guess I have to keep trying. T minus 1 year? That should be doable...
Hope nothing happens in the next year.
Eve.

Thanks to Prof Tan, (he was really right about fallacies popping up all over the place once you first hear about them) - this* is an appeal to popularity I believe.
Just because there are other people with the same problem does not make it less of a problem.
But at least labelling yourselves, and admitting it helps.

Ps. I am a potentially anxious manic depressive with hints of OCD.

PPS.As you discovered when you were the project, your nerd’s focus can be deliciously overwhelming, but it will stop. Once a nerd believe he fully knows how a system works, the challenge to understand ceases to exist and he moves on in search of The Next High.
While I don’t know who you are or why in the world you chose a nerd for your companion, I do know that you are not a knowable system. I know that you are messy, just like your nerd. Being your own quirky self will be more than enough to present new and interesting challenges to your nerd.
Besides, it’s just as much a nerd’s job to figure you out and maybe someone somewhere is writing an article about your particular quirks. Good news, he’s probably reading it right now.
Haha but I think they'd end up making snap judgments and dismissing it if they have too many projects on hand and you aren't at the top of the relevance heap (for the moment or ever).I think I need to know fewer nerds. Or more normal people. Or....nvm.

The Science of Orgonomy
Google it.
Hmm I always wondered if there was sth that could be done with excess sexual tension. Since I never get any - and even when I do - I apparently am a very physical person - I crackle with static after I get hot awhile.
Probably sth to do with all the hair. Hmm that means all the special conditioners in the world aren't going to make it stop with the standing up thing.
Maybe I should invest in gel and go skinhead.
And in my lifetime, someone will invent one of those weird mind connecting helmets.
Then ya'll can share my dream with me.
You'll smell flowers you never dreamed of.

I have a true ability for procrastination.
And I apparently cannot decide on anything.
A lifetime's just too long these days, especially if you live in a safe country like Singapore.
So I just keep my actions in line.
I'm thinking before I talk a lot more. (yay!)
But I dunno. Emancipation's making me grow as a person - I shouldn't get hitched to the first willing Tom that I can stand, but be happy to stand on my own as an individual. And if I did that then I'd probably be working real hard to escape him.
But education pushes back the time frame when I can with good conscience settle down.
I have to graduate first. Then migrate, then meet someone.
It would be unfair to expect anyone to go with me after all. Even if I don't know where exactly yet. (Probably australia.)
And why do I even want someone? To split the housework with? Marriage is no guarantee he'll be faithful. That I already know.
Too many guys are creeps.
But the alternative's either going without, or friends with benefits.
And which friend would I be willing to lose? Given the strange relationship men have with their libido, and the irrationality it imbues them with, I'd have to be willing to lose them. Truth is, most of my guy friends are like bros anyway.
I guess my plan is just sitting and waiting again.
Ka will blow me where it wills.

It's funny. In the last couple of weeks, I've met up with a lot of the people I love. And next week I have assignments due so I need to get down to it.
But every time I sit down at the computer, I inevitably begin to feel lonely.
I know I am a master procrastinator. ^_^
But the extent has gotten worrying even to me. I think I'm going to have to beg someone to sit with me when I study soon, just so I can study. :s It's a bit pathetic but I can't understand it myself - I only know it affects me and I can't conquer it by any means I can think of so far.
So, anyone who wants to study with me? I'll be good for it :)

Small talk has always been a pretty big part of my life. In my world, you don't go up to your dad and say "I need an increase in allowance". You ask him how his back is (and probably end up rubbing it), you give him something sweet to eat, ask about his work, and tell him about school and insert sneakily how many of your friends have had birthdays, ask him if he thinks your hair's grown, or if you'll need a haircut.
Then you bring up, very nicely, the increment.
It's not cunning exactly. I do care about his back, and his work, and what happened to bani (he really loves kasem se). But when do I get the chance to talk to him? With our timetables? Never. Plus, I plan to disappear, so there's the ethical/moral thing. It wouldn't be right to talk to him like that all the time and give him the impression I cared (even though I do) if I knew I was gonna leave him anyway. It would just hurt him unnecessarily - and I know because it's been tested on me.
But you use small talk everywhere - with the aunty at the coffeeshop. You say "hi, how are you, aunty?", she goes "fine, you? Exams coming right?" then you go "Ya, still mugging....hope I can pass everything", then she goes "Nevermind lah, clever girl like you sure can. If cannot, so pretty can go find one of those engin boys, the no need to work also" then you laugh and she gives you your coffee and you go back to your books.
You could pretty much put that conversation anywhere. You almost never start a conversation, even with your best friend, with "So, have you thought of a way to bring water to those poor children in Africa? I'm stumped on how we'll coordinate transporting the water from the flooded areas in India to those filled with dust." You could start with a "Hi, nice top, feel like coffee or sth a little stronger tonight?". "You look tired..." "Ready to shop/play chess/stuff our faces/watch that movie?" Or if he's really your best friend, "Got anything to eat, dear? I'm totally horny and I need to bite." :p
At any rate, I've discovered I know quite a few people who are very, very unique. More than a few of my posts have been about what those few have said or done. So thank you, my muses.
:p
